Course: Elements of Technical Analysis MATH 114

Prerequisite: Open only to candidates for the Associate of Applied Science degree.

Course Description: Basic mathematics for technology students. Special emphasis on units of measurement, accuracy, use of calculators, beginning algebra, solutions of equations, use of graphs, and other fun stuff.

Text: Applied Mathematics, by R. Jesse Phagan, Goodheart-Willcoz Company, Inc. 1997.

Evaluation: There will be 3 or 4 one hour, 100 point, exams with dates being announced in class approximately one week in advance. The last test may be during the last week of class. Arrangements for make-up exams must be made with the instructor well before the exam is given in class. Homework and unannounced quizzes will result in a score of 200 possible points. There will be a group final worth 200 points. The course grade will be evaluated as follows:

90% - 100% A

80% - 89% B

70% - 79% C

60% - 69 % D

59% or below F

This is a tentative grading scale and can be amended downward at the discretion of the instructor, however the scale will not be raised.
